Tales of Building Beer and Community in an Arizona Trailer Park

| | ,

Lazy G Brewhouse founders Jim and Jean-Marie Bellington met about 40 years ago in a bar while drinking beer. It’s kismet then, that one of their bucket list items was to open a brewery. When an old trailer park came up for sale, instead of retirement, they went back to work to build beer and community.

Hiring a well-known brewer, Travis Smith, formerly of Societe Brewing in San Diego, the three of them set out to create a community. One with good beer, good food, and tributes to the importance of family.

This is their story, one of love, loss, and finding each other along the way, in a trailer park no less. One that became home, in more ways than one.

Welcome to LazyG Brewhouse!

And Prescott…and Whiskey Row…and hundreds of miles of mountain biking trails. We talk about it all.

LazyG Brewhouse Brings Award Winning Beer to Prescott!

When we first spoke to Jean-Marie, Jim, and Travis for our Craft Beer Travel & Adventure podcast, they had barely just gotten started. Since then, we’re honored to say that they have won highly prestigious medals for their beer both at the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup. Somehow, they’ve remained the wonderful, humble, and fun people that we first met in a former trailer park in Prescott, Arizona.

Cheers to LazyG Brewhouse! Check out our feature with them on the LazyG Brewhouse “About” page.

“Ken and April do a fantastic job of mixing the culture of beer and adventure into something akin to a fine barrel-aged sour. They are wise beyond their years. Loving this podcast and it will be on our weekly playlist for SURE!”
