Welcome to the fifth in our series of podcasts where we have partnered up with Malteurop Malting Company (MMC) to highlight some amazing craft breweries for the upcoming American Craft Beer Week, May 10-16.

Meet Adam Eckhardt from Crank Arm Brewing

With a mutual love of bikes and beer came a passion project that fit Adam Eckhardt to a tee, Crank Arm Brewing. We were thrilled to be able to talk bikes and beer with Adam, one of the four masterminds behind Crank Arm Brewing in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Adam Eckhardt of Crank Arm Brewing

While his story may be similar to some – person loses job, person ponders purpose of life, person loves to brew beer, person opens brewery – his style and passion remain unique to him. When it became apparent that he was going to open a brewery, it was a no-brainer that bikes would be also be involved.

Join us this week for some beer love, some bike love, and just all around love for passions that make the world go ’round.

“Creating new things, being innovative. Those are the things that get my heart racing. This is my baby. I love it. You can drink the dream.”

“Ken and April do a fantastic job of mixing the culture of beer and adventure into something akin to a fine barrel-aged sour. They are wise beyond their years. Loving this podcast and it will be on our weekly playlist for SURE!”

Shout Outs:

To Adam Eckhardt for hanging out with us and reveling us with tales of beer and bikes. We feel your struggles when work is fun and intertwines with life. It’s not always easy trying to find time to do all the things you want to do. Your fun and flexible attitude, however, are inspirations to us all. It must have something to do with that beer love, bike love thing.

To Galen Smith and Gretchen Jones from Malteurop Malting Company for putting this together. It may have been meant to highlight Crank Arm for American Craft Beer Week, and that it did, but it also shined the spotlight on you two and the community within MMC.
